Soul Meets Body – “Forfeit”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: In the record breaking 2023 movie ‘Barbie’, Barbie famously turns to her her friends in a glittering pink disco and asks “Do you guys ever think about dying?” If you died tomorrow, what would people say about you at your funeral? ‘Forfeit’ embodies the fact that death is inevitable, it happens to the best of us, but are we all doing what we genuinely want with our time? Many of us spend time in jobs we dislike, surrounded by people who use us to get ahead, and society makes it seem as though our only purpose is to pay bills. Capitalism is unfortunately a game we have to play to survive, but if given the option, I would forfeit. This game has unfair rules and regulations that make it hard for those who aren’t born into wealth or status. Though Forfeit has dark themes, the lighter parts show that there is strength in numbers and community. This world is backwards and twisted, but together we can support each other through the rough times. We can work together to create a better future.

Seventh Floor – “Pursuit of Identity”

Country: Germany

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: “Pursuit Of Identity” is about the tiring routines of everyday life. Of rueful resignation. But also about iron discipline and blazing passion. It relentlessly and closely shows the obstacles we face on our individual journey to self-realisation – whether of a cognitive, social or physical nature. But it is never too late to realise one’s dreams.

CrashMonkeys – “LA Trash”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: LA Trash is about gritty and free times in 90’s LA and just being a kid. Lyrically I tried to be true to that feeling of a time when exploration and the experience were paramount. Musically it’s Gritty unpolished guitars, loud vocals and nice grooves. Those times driving around with a bunch of kids in LA just doing nothing were amazing. We had complete freedom, no one cared about us or where we were, and we made due with what we had. LA was crazy expensive even then and often dangerous. But we’d pick up and go anytime.

Astral Swans – “Shine The Light Inside”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: Swann wrote “Shine The Light Inside” shortly after the world reopened post pandemic, and there was suddenly a greater divide between the extremely rich and poor. The song is about a billionaire’s rocket going off course (à la Major Tom), and the lyrics are his AI reading aphorisms sourced from self help books assembled by a proprietary algorithm to try and calm him down.

Apartment 99 – “Best of Me”

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: The song was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in our own bandroom by our guitarist Finn. The song illustrates a shattered friendship, where one person feels hurt and betrayed. Despite the pain, they exhibit strength by choosing to walk away from the toxic situation, displaying resilience and determination to move forward.

James Hooker & The Hallows – “Bottom of My Heart”

Country: Australia

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist/PR: This song is inspired by how difficult it can be to tell someone how we feel, when we have the chance, however, those chances don’t always last and it can often be too late.

Lone Tells – “The First One”

Words From the Artist/PR: This is a song about heartbreak and losing yourself. All the instruments in this song are analog. I used an electric guitar, my voice, a drum kit and a small synthesizer op-1.
