LITTER – “Hate Will Own You”

Country: Australia

Genre: Punk

From the Artist:  “A thumping, foot-stomping hard traveller with a cautionary message about the dangers of using hate as a means to an end. Asking – is it possible to use the proverbial sword and not live and/or die by it? Specific homage is paid to PiL’s John Lydon in the line “I’m with John, I agree ‘anger is an energy’ but hate will own you”

DYLYN – “Skin and Bone”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Skin & Bone is about a rare soul connection that makes your world explode. While I was writing this song with Parker Bossley, we had a conversation about first loves and how potent they are. Your world feels so colorful and fragile. Everything is so intense. You chase that feeling of a first love in songwriting in a way. It is so new and exciting. To love someone to the skin and bone. I thought that was a beautiful visual – you never forget your first.”

Topless Models – “Lovebug Puzzle”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Originally from the small island of Cape Breton, this Halifax, Nova Scotia-based five-piece unveiled their alt-rock sound in 2019, packing one of the local dives with a full room of rowdy irregulars. The boys continue to play crowded shows to enthusiastic fans and have no plans on slowing down.”

CMON CMON – “The Summers We Missed”

Country: Belgium

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “Joyous, jangly lead single ‘The Summers We Missed’, with its sumptuous harmonies and debt to early Lemonheads, captures both the laid-back spirit of CMON CMON and their tales of life experience as opposed to first love.”

Matt Steele – “Vintage Photo Filter”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “In 2021, I spent some time lost in thought about nostalgia, the rising cost of rent/living, why we all seem to be under more pressure than our parents’ generation, and how the use of ‘vintage’ aesthetics in social media and fashion play into that,” said Matt Steele (he/him). “I then stepped outside of my comfort zone, made a drum loop, and called in a pair of synth-driven artists to help fill out the sound for a 90’s-inspired summertime anthem to capture all this bittersweet melancholy.”

Mike Jimmy Coco – “The Oompa Loompa Song”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This song was written after finally ridding myself of a narcissistic junkie ex girlfriend”

Reckling – “In My Hair”

Country: US

Genre: Grunge

From the Artist: “Los Angeles punk-leaning four-piece Reckling (led by Kelsey Reckling) is back with the announcement of their forthcoming EP, Human Nature. The new project is introduced with the release of its first single, “In My Hair,” released alongside an accompanying music video directed by Ambar Navarro.”

West Coast Wolves – “Factory of Bones”

Country: South Africa

Genre: Folk Rock

From the Artist: “Inspired by “Man of Constant Sorrow”, the version in the Coen Brothers film “Oh Brother where art thou”, Pete rocked up to rehearsal with this huge acoustic guitar riff. At around the same time, we were totally blown away by the film “world war II in colour” and the documentary on the Vietnam war and the lyrics took on their own life when we decided to name the song Factory of Bones. In particular, the fear which soldiers must have felt, the lack of understanding on what they were fighting for, the longing for their home, family and friends and at times even being forced to fight against them, must have been overwhelming. Ultimately the song brings the experience back to today’s struggles one might have…. reflecting on life’s “growing pains”.

Bright Falls – “Dusk”

Country: Ireland

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “Dusk is a song of longing to the early days of a relationship, whilst being caught in the midst of confusion and a clear lack of communication, and being desperate to find resolution: ‘Send you to sleep, all your dreams in dusk, Tell me how we can make it work?’ ‘Dusk’ opens with an arpeggiated bass synth pulsing over a bed of ethereal pads and glistening synths, before setting into layered guitars and an intricate drum pattern. On the chorus the track opens up propelled by a driving bass line and a melodious hook. The dynamic track crescendos with a flurry of synth mixed with guitars and beating drums but ultimately leaves our opening arpeggiated bass synth falling deep down into the unknown, leaving us to wonder what is next?”

Ollee Owens – “Raging Fire”

Country: Canada

Genre: Americana

From the Artist: “From smoldering intro to blazing end, Owens’ latest single, “Raging Fire,” lends an important warning. Reflecting on her grandma’s influence, Owens states, “She used to say that our tongues have the power to burn folks to the ground…it is so important to watch what we say or we may find ourselves helplessly standing by as the consequences of thoughtless words take full effect.” Out of harsh lessons learned through personal experience, Owens calls listeners to be mindful of what “cannot be unheard.”

Carlsbad – “towels”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Carlsbad, an indie-rock alternative duo of Gia Sky and Aubrey Wood, make their debut release “towels” on 7/8/22. The pair describes their music as “bummy beach-rock flavor and good vibes”. “towels” is dreamy, romantic, and feel-good jam with infectious guitar riffs, sweet vocals, and powerful drum kick.”

Kash’d Out – “Back Deck”

Country: US

Genre: Pop Rock

From the Artist: “Fresh off a long tour, we decided to do some get-away writing sessions where we’ll post up at an Airbnb for like a week to workshop songs for our next album,” says Kash’d Out vocalist Greg Shields. “We always try to pick someplace that has a nice atmosphere, and so this time we picked a place somewhere in rural Georgia with this really cool back deck overlooking the Chattahoochee River. The vibe is very peaceful out there, just listening to the birds, or the dogs, or nature. You get in your zone and you could lose yourself and be out there for hours feeling inspired. It’s a chill song about chillin on the back deck …but that can be a metaphor for anywhere really …wherever that place is for you. I feel like everybody has that place.”

Bristol Mines – “Time to Spend”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Bristol Mines are back! Here’s our first single since putting out our Easy Target EP in 2021. It’s a super radio friendly summer tune that takes inspiration from early 2000s Smash Mouth stuff just as much as more modern indie pop rock like Hollerado.”
