Pacific Estate – “King of the Bar”
Country: Canada
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist: Inspired by the nostalgia of playing a concert, “King of the Bar” was born during the pandemic, reminiscing over the euphoria of putting on a live show. In particular, it pays homage to the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, one of their favourite venues. “But this horseshoe’s luck just might have set me free from it all…” Pacific Estate explains, “This lyric describes what being in a band is all about, and that is the feeling we get when we are on stage together, putting our day jobs aside for night and getting to live our dream as musicians.”

Pluto Saffron – “Clouds”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist: “I chose ‘Clouds’ as my first single release because writing this song saved my life in many ways. It’s me in my most vulnerable, raw state: speaking the truth of my reality. ‘Clouds’ is about the ability to change even when all seems lost. Years ago when I was struggling with heroin I witnessed the loss of 2 close friends. I decided to work through the pain of losing them by starting to write this song. My entire life kept flashing before me as if to say ‘take it or leave it.’ Fate was forcing me to acknowledge that life can pass by quickly and your dreams can dissolve into the sudden reality that love, friends, family and feelings could disappear at any moment. I realized that now was the time I had always been waiting for. ‘Clouds’ is about harnessing the ever fleeting glimmer of hope that we all need to hold onto when things feel hopeless. The song flows from feelings of being dreadfully sad to exuberantly happy. The ultimate balancing act. It’s an examination of how thin the line is that divides the light from the darkness. We are all doing the same cosmic dance, going through something that’s forcing us to grow and move beyond who we were yesterday. ‘Clouds’ is about the ability to change when all seems lost. ‘Clouds’ will be the first single off of my upcoming first full length album that will be released in early 2024.”

Arrlo – “Cavities”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist: This song is a personal star crossed lovers experience I went through last year. It was a very tense time, as everything about our feelings were unspoken, but there was this gigantic magnetic pull. Our circumstances were not aligned at the time, for a few reasons, and I quietly wrote this about the joy I felt about her, but the pain of knowing I could never truly explore it. It is also called Cavities, because she is a burlesque performer, and asked if I had seen the act she was about to perform. I hadn’t, and she said “It’s so sweet, it’ll give you cavities.” And thus, cavities was born. We also debuted it live at our Life is Beautiful performance, and she watched the live stream. It was a pretty bittersweet memory.

Nick Carver & The Mean Street Butchers – “I Need To Feel”
Country: Australia
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist: “As far as sound goes, it’s a rock song. There’s very little of the alt-country/bluesy sound that’s on the previous releases. That’s not to say that stuff is over, but I’ve been working towards writing some real straight-up rock stuff that people can be expecting to hear with the next few releases. I’ve always loved some cool weird rock, like Funkadelic, Ween, Melvins, Brant Bjork, and early Queens of the Stone Age. I think all of those bands just played out some songs that were really simple to them and kept all the little nuances and oddities that we sometimes try to improve on and end up losing the really cool essence of the track.”

City Ghost – “Good News”

Words From the Artist: Called “Good News”, the single is “a sentiment for being fed up with mental health struggles and just wanting to find the light at the end of the tunnel. The song ebbs and flows through themes of struggle and relief, and crisis and hope,” confides lead singer O’Neill. The song is the first single off of their upcoming EP Cause and Effect, a rapturing and emotive five song collection all about navigating depression and anxiety and finding healing through treatment.
