Cates – “Turn Off Your Radio”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: ““Turn Off Your Radio” is distilled power pop—with major label hooks, indie wit, searing guitar riffs…and a bad attitude.”

Jack Skuller – “Asking For A Friend”

Country: US

Genre: Pop Rock

Words From the Artist: “”Asking for a Friend” is a profound lyric, with a driving train beat and a trembling guitar riff that matches the song’s intense uncertainty. On the inspiration for his lyrics, George Usher recalls, “I wrote down some notes about how we continually reach out for dubious advice on how to live our daily lives. This includes consulting faceless horoscopes, hit-or-miss weather reports, up-to-the-minute train schedules and, of course, the opinions of online strangers.” Skuller and Usher’s previous collaborations have all been energetic and spellbinding; this one is no exception.”

Goalkeeper – “Car Wreck”

Country: US

Genre: Punk

Words From the Artist: “Produced by Kevin Mahoney of Hit the Lights and Nik Bruzzese of Man Overboard. Second single of the upcoming LP “I Wish I Met You Sooner” out 10/28/2022″

Oli Swan – “Be Kind”

Country: UK

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “So it’s electronic, but a tonic for the ears, a little bit like Tame Impala taking style tips from Harry Styles. Throw in echoes of Thomas Dolby, 10cc and the odd trickle of Tears For Fears, add a couple of utterly cosmic interludes and set the controls for the heart of the melodic sun. Fittingly, the album explores themes of anxiety and coming-of-age in an online world, set against a backdrop of late-night synthesizers & drum machines.”

STRAINJER – “Cherry’s Bent”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “A number of the scenes in the video are about me being in this video game “Grand Theft Auto”, where the player steals cars and motorcycles. Ironically, the scooter which I am driving in the video was actually stolen right after the video shoot! I was so exhausted from the shoot I forgot to lock it up. I was super pissed at the time but can laugh about it now as insurance paid more $ than i bought it for, and I have a new scooter. Which I lock every night!!!!” – Timothy

The Brontosaur – “The Fisherman”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “The Fisherman was the first publicly-available song from the record, and it’s one of my favorites. In the studio, when the song was just still a rough outline, Kellii Scott (the drummer) helped sort out the wild arrangement after the bridge that leads to the climactic ending. I procrastinated the lyrics and vocals until the very end, this was the last song completed on the record. I wrote the final lines of the song first and worked my way backward. It took forever.”

The Lost Weekend – “You Are”

Country: Denmark

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Radiance is the long awaited debutalbum by Copenhagen altrock outfit The Lost Weekend and is released september 30. Since they debuted with a 5-star reviewed concert back in 2020 they have been working on their first full length. Releasing a couple of songs on the way the band has been compared with bands such as: Dinosaur JR, Stone Roses, My Bloody Valentine. You Are is a song found on the album. It’s massive wall of guitars set the pace and tone for the songs larger-than-life soundscape. In the chorus lead singer Jeffre Markkus wails along with the dissonant guitars to create a strong tension underlining the lyrics and the feel of the song.”

DJS Band – “She Was… She Was”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “The inspiration for the lyric came from trying to make an alternate story from a passage of The Canterbury Tales, using similar wording … “Whan that Aprill with his shoures soote The droghte of March hath perced to the roote” … It radically evolved from there”

J. Graves – “Mad”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “J. Graves is setting out to pioneer something different, with bandleader Jessa Graves squeezing together a tightly packed ball of anger, grief, and acceptance in her latest album Fortress of Fun – an outpouring of wild fury and plaintive sadness with a dark, angular sound. Big new ideas abound, not just musically, but conceptually, too. COVID’s onset in March 2020 forced musicians worldwide to adapt creatively to the impending digital-only era, so it’s rare to see true innovation in an otherwise saturated market, but J. Graves have come up with a captivating idea: a “choose your own adventure” album.”

Burn The Louvre – “Dumb”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “Our 8th single “Dumb” is about an ex-girlfriend of mine,” says Speare with a smile, “it’s actually more about me than it is about her. I remember I was listening to The Dirty Nil a lot at the time,” recalls Speare, “so this song is basically me doing a terrible Luke Bentham impression.” It’s a humourous look at the end of a relationship where the protagonist in the song wishes anything but the best for his departed lover, yet still finds himself missing her (to his own disgust). The result is a fun folk punk meets garage rock tune that even features an appearance from the humble cowbell.”

Matt Whytcross – “Remember Me Then”

Country: Australia

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist:  “A celebration of friendship and gratitude in the face of mortality – the bittersweet gift that is the opportunity to say good bye. The new single from recently released album, The Eternal Paradigm”

Vital Static – “TV Light”

Country: US

Genre: Shoegaze

Words From the Artist: “TV Light is a song with a mellow and gloomy vibe that builds into something bigger while still maintaining that chill and sad tone. The song is about the artist looking back at simpler and happier times when she was younger. This song is the artists first collaboration with a production team.”

Lunatic High – “Graveyard Shift”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Lunatic High is a Hard Rock/Alternative Metal band from Baltimore, MD and Campo Grande, Brasil. Their first single “Graveyard Shift” shows an interesting mix of Metal, Punk, Alternative and Indie Rock”

William Bleak – “Pray for Rain”

Country: Germany

Genre: Post-punk

Words From the Artist: “Post Punk song focused on revealing of true feelings and honesty.”

Candid Faces – “Needle Talk”

Country: UK

Genre: Indie Pop

Words From the Artist: “Needle Talk’s ‘keep it simple’ & ‘to the point’ lyric takes a peek into the psyche of someone who is constantly conscious of how they’re being perceived by others – a concept that’s illustrated so well in Hull director Jody Moore’s video to accompany the release. Lead vocalist Liz Shaw explains that “I used to be that person who’d be imagining all the time what other people were thinking about me, and who knows if it was true at all! So much energy was soaked up with those thoughts, that there was no space for me to just be me. In the chorus of Needle Talk I’m singing ‘Let it go, Let It go’ which is a cry to let go of those stifling feelings and just be free from the associated mental constraints. So liberating was that process of letting go that it’s improved my mental health and feelings of well-being no end!”
