Dylan Perkons – “Good News”
Country: Canada
Genre: Indie Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: Perkons recorded “Good News” between two sessions, spaced six months apart. He teamed up with producer Jonas Bonnetta (aka Evening Hymns) at his secluded studio two hours from Ottawa and then recorded vocals and fine-tuned the arrangements with Juno-nominated producer David Vertesi in Vancouver. Written just a few months into the pandemic, Perkons found the initial spark for the track from a writing prompt he received while participating in an online songwriting workshop. Contemplating the uncertain future ahead, like everyone else, “Good News” is a song inspired by hope.

The Problem With Kids Today – “Leather Jacket Blues”
Country: US
Genre: Garage Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: “Leather Jacket Blues” is a toe-tapping, pulse-pounding, tongue-in-cheek classic punk song. It exists somewhere between parody and pastiche, having a go at those that take themselves too seriously, the ones that with a straight face say “you can’t be a punk if you don’t have a felony“. At the same time it embraces that punk ethos that we all love, one of directness, honesty, and fun. Clocking in at a brisk 1:24, The Kids slam through the song at a frenetic pace, leaving no room for frills – or survivors. It was written in an afternoon following a short weekend tour. The band had noticed how much crowds responded to harder and faster songs. We wanted to dance and shout and bang into each other, so we wrote a song that does exactly that.

Canetis – “89 to 22”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: The second single off of Canetis’ latest EP, ‘On All That’s Real’ is “89 to 22.” The track is about lead singer Brendan Orr’s late sister Jennifer, who passed away during the writing process of the EP. Jennifer took her own life in 2022 after a nearly 20-year battle with mental health struggles. She had been was a major supporter of Brendan’s musical ambitions throughout his life and a staunch supporter of Canetis, rarely missing shows. “89 to 22” explores Brendan’s battle with the grief of suddenly losing a loved one and best friend. The lyrics touch on the various components of being in the aftermath of such a loss and how a person tries to make it through each day while living with the heartache and emptiness of a loved one suddenly leaving this life for the next.

Middle Part – “Get Fixed”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: The album’s opening track, “Get Fixed,” sets the tone for the record—a spirited and raucous anthem that could easily soundtrack a coming-of-age comedy set in the early 2000s, reminiscent of American Pie. It channels the angst of growing up while grappling with the acceptance of aging and the weight of regrets.
