Nights Like Thieves – “This Is My War”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: Nights Like Thieves’ latest single “This is My War” is a stunning and heartfelt emo anthem, featuring the debut performance of new vocalist Angel Flores, that takes on the difficult and important issues of mental health, self-doubt, and societal values with a powerful and raw musical intensity.

Tristan Armstong – “The Lender”

Country: Canada

Genre: Americana

Words From the Artist: “A song about surviving in the city. The opening line is something I overheard being said in a conversation between two young business partners at a coffee shop in Kensington Market in Toronto.”

Demolition Amore – “Night Thoughts”

Country: US

Genre: Hard Rock

Words From the Artist: The song’s powerful lyrics delve into the raw and intense emotions of anxiety and panic attacks, capturing the struggles and challenges faced by those who suffer from these conditions. The band’s heartfelt performance and the emotive vocals bring the lyrics to life, creating an immersive experience that resonates with anyone who has experienced anxiety.

The Dust Collectors – “Black Fly”

Country: Canada

Genre: Folk

Words From the Artist: “‘Black Fly’ came about during a long stint of writers block. A literal fly buzzing at my window became a metaphor for that feeling, wanting to break through but instead going round in circles and ending up back where you started. It morphed into a tune about how change comes regardless of your thoughts or feelings on the matter.” – The Dust Collector’s Matt Easton (lead vocals, lead guitar):

CHASE. – “Domestic Chemistry”

Country: Canada

Genre: Pop Rock

Words From the Artist: “This is a song about the ups and downs we face when we are in any kind of relationship. Domestic Chemistry addresses the notion that although we might encounter individual difficulties, outside of our relationships, it’s ultimately worth the effort if we feel like better versions of ourselves, because of the relationship. This song was produced by Siegfried Meier at Beach Road Studios and mastered by Troy Glessner at Spectre Studios. Drums were performed by Melvin Murray of Texas King.”

A Very Special Episode – “$5 Cover”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: Reflecting on the live power of the track, A Very Special Episode’s drummer Chayse Schutter says, “This is a really fun and weird one to perform live, with Patrick playing the bass through both bass and guitar amps and Kasey free to dance around the space untethered to an instrument. Because of that, it’s become a favorite of ours to either open or close sets with; we’re either starting or ending strong with it.” “$5 Cover” is accompanied by a video that serves up a 60s time capsule that places the polite society veneer of post-war America in sharp contrast with the blown out garage rock sounds of a 2023 Brooklyn basement. As one might fittingly hope, the video is also a product of the local scene. Greg Hanson (the “Big Cheese” of King Pizza Records and drummer of The Rizzos) directed the shoot, while Seth Applebaum (the central creative force of Brooklyn supergroup Ghost Funk Orchestra) took care of filming. Singer/bassist Kasey Heisler notes “While expressing its own unique visual language, the surrealism of ‘$5 Cover’ compliments and connects the culty and manic themes running through both the ‘Heaven’s Gate’ and ‘Strobes’ videos.”

Jesse Merineau – “Temporary Dopamine”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: This song is an indie-rock banger, revealing the reality of our addiction to vices & convenience. It questions why we allow ourselves to fall into the trap, even when we know it’s wrong.

Notbrian – “Mission Sent”

Country: US

Genre: Post-Punk

Words From the Artist: This song is the culmination of a past few years of developing myself, my own personal sound, and playing live shows with my band to the point of being able to communicate on these instruments fluently — Mission Sent uses grand and stoic terms to express its image, one that I pictured as a kind of dystopian wasteland where our hero sets off on his journey, but really it’s about the path I charted for myself in diving fully into my own music: and all that comes with that, good or bad.

Calm Canopy – “Hydrangea”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist: “Hydrangea” confronts the endeavors that we wish we could have done earlier on in life, and urges the listener to go do that very thing today anyway. We all fall into the trap of the “normal life”, which we later find out is largely unfulfilling- but that’s okay- here comes another day.

The Nicoteenagers – “Crawl”

Country: Australia

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “‘Crawl’ is an anthem for people who feel like they don’t have a place.”
