The Roland High Life w/ Indoor Friends – “Oh Dolours”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: “Oh Dolours” was largely inspired by “Say Nothing,” Patrick Radden Keefe’s fantastic chronicling of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, of which Dolours Price is a central character. Price (along with her sister, Marian) was a feminist activist and high-ranking volunteer in the Irish Republican Army, who was involved in a number of serious sedition operations — including the 1973 bombing of the Old Bailey statue, for which she was captured and tortured by the British government. Things got even worse when she went on Hunger Strike to protest their refusal to recognize her rights as a prisoner of war. After her release, Price married the actor Stephen Rea, but the PTSD from her harrowing experience led to lifelong struggles with addiction and mental health. She later came to regret her involvement in the IRA, due in part to the sexist double standards she experienced — how Republican men escaped responsibility for their actions, or received praise and support for their sacrifices on Hunger Strikes. Price remained steadfast in her support of the cause itself, however, at least until her death by “misadventure” (read: vodka and pills) in 2016.

Social Creatures – “Fly The Loop”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: Fly the Loop is Social Creatures’ most vibrant, danceable single yet. Lyrically, the song deals with themes of breaking the cycle, not repeating the mistakes of those who came before us, our addictions, the “loop” that we can have a hard time escaping in life.

Child Seat – “Money”

MISSIO – “Time”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: “It’s philosophical in nature and the more that people listen to it, I think they’ll resonate with the darkness and overwhelming feeling they get. Even though the world is falling apart around us, we have the choice to live in each moment because ‘time is where you are.’”

The Slashes – “Limo Tint”
Country: US
Genre: Post-Punk
Words From the Artist/PR: The New Slashes Single “Limo Tint” is dark and melodic with slow rush. Deep vocals comparable to Interpol. Punchy bass line and drums over melodic guitar melodies. The song was written as a farewell swan to a friend that passed away. Her passing really affected me, it was written in her perspective, she was saying goodbye.

Sundozer – “Still Life”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: 2023 saw the hottest summer on record in Austin, Texas. 80 days over 100 degrees. In the midst of this heatwave, Sundozer spawned the ‘Death Bloom’ EP. Self-recorded mostly in his home studio (drums tracked in a sweltering garage with drummer Stevie Trudell) and mixed in the A/C-less shed of Elliott Frazier (Ringo Deathstarr), ‘Death Bloom’ was a blistering and sweaty labor of feverish, distorted love. A feedback laden meditation on death and rebirth; yielded in the shimmering hellfire of Texas summer ’23, born anew in spring ’24.

Maudlin Strangers – “Don’t Worry, I’m Fine”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: I wrote this song about dealing with a burnout I experienced, and how I needed to recover from it. I took a long hiatus and always kicked myself for it, but I realized it was all necessary to make it to the point where I am now, mentally. Sometimes you have to give yourself time to reflect to figure out truly what it is that you want, and what will make you happy.

Agender – “Jeans”
Country: US
Genre: Punk
Words From the Artist/PR: Jeans is a desperate yet endearing love song for modern times. It was written and produced by Romy, the band’s singer and guitarist. The band was tracked by Dave Stone (LCD soundsystem) all together in one room and miraculously pretty much nailed the song one take! Fast downstrokes a la the Ramones mesh with nice harmonies akin to that of 60’s girl groups. Pop punk fun!

Human Dinosaur Machine – “Turtles”
Country: Australia
Genre: Skate Punk
Words From the Artist/PR: Punk song about turtles from HDM’s debut self-titled album.

Atomic Tom – “Let Me Show You How It’s Done”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Words From the Artist/PR: Atomic Tom return with a gut punch to show you how to rock. Amidst an engine of bangin’ drums and guitar riffs is a self-deprecating story of starry-eyed naivety, dark comedy and blockbuster daydreams to help you bang your head through the screen that you’ve been staring at all day.
