Dream Pony – “Bikini Vision”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist:  BIKINI VISION is a fuzzed out beach pop anthem celebrating personal expression and body appreciation. This recording takes us on a ride through Brooklyn on hot Summers day. Songwriter D’Arsie paints a picture of a character in search of an escape from the heat and the ensuing delirium, blissfully in love with life and able to see beauty in everyone and everything. Bikini Vision has both crisp, blown out guitars, killer drum fills driving bass, swirling organs and cruisy backing vocals. Somewhat equal parts Iggy Pop sarcasm and Rowland S Howard irony.

Linebeck – “Give Us a Try”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From PR: On their newest single “Give Us A Try”, Linebeck delivers a jangling and floaty track that highlights the group’s unique and engaging blender of sonic influences. Inspired by deciding to go for it and become romantic with a friend, the song is a relatable summer bop

The Zooeys – “Nation”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: This is a song about losing your mind while your girlfriend steals your car and you blame it on the pandemic and our disintegrating societal norms or whatever. There are so many blameworthy causes for everything that goes wrong these days that even rolling out of bed feels like a holy and incomprehensible act. Trying at anything at all is a radical decision, much less trying to play rock and roll in Nebraska, maybe not the most trendy description of a 2023 band you can write. But who cares? If it rips, it rips.

The Deflators – “Liar Liar”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist:  “This one came all at once. Lyrics, music, the whole thing. We’ve all been lied to, it’s a universal thing. But sometimes there’s that moment where you realize that you know you are being lied to, and you let it happen anyway. The song is trying to capture the humor in that. It’s more self-deprecating than angry because of the awareness factor.”

Bunko – “Doom Surfing”

Country: US

Genre: Post-Punk

Words From the Artist: The internet is full of news of doom whether true or not while everyone around you starts to go crazy scrolling on their phones and consuming bad news.

The Sons of James – “All They Told You”

Country: US

Genre: Punk

Words From the Artist:  Following the release of Florida based skate punk band The Sons of James’s single ‘The Real Me’, ‘All They Told You’ comes out strong as their second single release of 2023. The song’s catchy melody and fun guitars make it almost impossible to not sing along to while the lyrical content touches home with fans. ‘All They Told You’ calls out the social norms that society is taught to live by and places its bet that there is a better way of life.

hük – “Superpower”

Country: UK

Genre: Post-Punk

Words From PR: A spiralling post-punk infused track, featuring swathes of menacing basslines and interplay of scuzzy electronics. The soundscape thickens throughout as hük’s deadpan delivery layers itself into a twisted web of sound. He says: “In an alternate universe John Barry comes home from a day writing epic spy themes. He turns on the news and implodes to a crushing tsunami of coercion and paranoia. The ambulance crew feed what’s left of him into an old AI model originally designed to create government propaganda but which is now running a dating app. The first thing out of the model is ‘Superpower’. The second is a new recipe for Kool Aid. You were warned.”

bigbaldben – “The Antidote”

Country: US

Genre: Rock

Words From the Artist: “Solo artist played all instruments with MIDI drums. Outsourced Mix/master to a professional. It’s a heavy rock song with 3 part harmonies and a tempo change in the chorus. There are situations where the best and brightest of us don’t want to engage the often contentious and thankless role of leading change, whether it be in business, society or politics. This song is about convincing someone they’re needed for the greater good.”

Trademark Issues – “(I Guess It’s) Time to Rock”

Country: US

Genre: Rock

Words From the Artist: “the first verse is a true story of a friend of Gary who needed to rock to get out from under the pressures of being a young dad.”

TV FACE – “I knew a girl I didn’t know”

Country: UK

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: The lead single taken from TV FACE’s forthcoming album Tide of Men (Crackedankles Records, 22.09.23). Released on ltd ed lathe cut 7″ vinyl, digital and streaming. Produced by the band, the tracks were recorded partly in an old church, and partly in a bungalow in rural Lancashire, and are mastered by Pete Maher (White Stripes, Pixies, U2). The song’s lyrics are inspired by TV FACE’s lead singer and guitarist’s experiences of chronic illness induced by a parasitic infection. It’s about a loss of connection with reality. About time travel and trauma.
