Chester Doom – “Orion”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This song came together quickly, it was one of those where everyone had their parts figured out almost immediately and we just ran with it. It’s quite different than our other stuff, but something about it has always spoken to us. We entered a demo of it into the 2021 CBC Searchlight competition and, while we didn’t win or even place, we got a very positive response from real fans that told us it was worth pursuing.”

Ali Angel – “Middle Name”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “This track explores the darker, more obsessive side of fawning over a new love interest – the darker cousin to the previous soulful & sweet release, “Extra Wild”. Inspired by the dynamic, theatrical and funky sounds of artists like The Talking Heads, David Bowie and St. Vincent, “Middle Name” embodies the rollercoaster ride the mind takes when developing feelings for a stranger. With pulsing rhythm carried by the bass and drums, staccato guitar hits and Angel’s tender vocals, the verses are delicate and sensual. With the shift to driving guitars and gritty emotional vocals in the pre-chorus and that distinct defining guitar line in the chorus, the song totally transforms into a jammy, psychedelic rock vibe. Fun distorted vocals in the breakdown and bridge using a 1980’s space echo, 70’s clav softly woven in the chorus, and stand-out bold lyrics really give the song a distinct personality. “Middle Name” shares a message extremely relatable to any listener, while sonically delivering an undeniably unique feel and sound.”

Doom Mutual – “For Now”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Doom Mutual unifies the musical endeavors of Nashville-based musicians Daphne Browdy and Davis Gestiehr, constructing familiar but eccentrically fascinating rock qualities. Doom Mutual is the individuals’ creative styles working in parallel with one another, ultimately generating a solid foundation of brooding lyricism and impressionable delivery.”

Life Stuff – “King of the Drive Thru”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This is Life Stuff, a postmodern ruckus whose direct sound is equally influenced by indie rockers like Pavement and brash attitudes like The Ramones. The band records themselves, using vintage guitar tones, vocal distortion and minimalist, uptempo rock sensibilities. Their back-to-the-basics style looks back on the history of indie music.”

Sweet Pill – “All Of My Life”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This song is about the missed opportunities in life and how they can continue to haunt us even years later.”

Post Club Casino – “Bored of Myself”

Country: Germany

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “Everything you listen to and watch is DIY by the two of us. Songwriting, production, mix, master, video, photos…just everything”

Tribeless – “Solitude”

Country: UK

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This is the latest single from Welsh Alt-rock powerhouse TRIBELESS. Recorded at Longwave Studios in Cardiff and produced/mixed by Grammy nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda. This inspiring and uplifting track features the soaring vocals of Lydia McDonald and the thunderous musicianship of Max Rhead (drums), Matt Alessandro (guitar) and Morgan Price (bass). The melody and sophistication of the track belies the bands youth. Only good things to come!”

Square Tugs – “Fat, Drunk, Stupid”

Country: Australia

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Let’s face it we’ve all known this person at some stage of our lives. We wanted to do a short fast punk blast of a song, the sort of thing that was coming out of the early 80s hardcore scene in America. We were definitely inspired by the Angry Samoans & Bad Brains for this one”.

Vivienne Wilder – “Sparrow Bones”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “Don’t get any big ideas, “you’re just a bird in a flock,” is the nihilistic hook on Toronto-based Vivienne Wilder’s latest single “Sparrow Bones”. Continuing to tackle mental health, self-worth, depression, suicidal thoughts and feelings of dissociation, Wilder’s music postions her as an outside observer looking into our world today. The song is taken from her upcoming album “I Don’t Believe”, which has strong themes of human disconnect and apathy. Through her music – inspired sonically by ’90s indie rock and legends like Siouxsie Sioux and Tom Waits – she shares what’s really important: coming together in hope and compassion.”

Andy Frasco & the U.N. – “Puff Break (Believe That)”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: ““Puff Break (Believe That),” which is co-written and produced by Nat Motte of the band 3OH!3, is an uplifting ode to picking yourself up and trying again. “I love inspiring songs,” Frasco says. “I know sometimes they’re cheesy, but I wanted to write a song about how it’s OK to wake up some days and be depressed. Even if you’re feeling low, take a deep breath, walk out of that house, have a cigarette and let’s get this day going, you know?”

Homeschool – “The Strangest Thing”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “‘The Strangest Thing’ is a song that has taken many shapes over the years. The first version of it was written around my senior year of high school and served as a sort of reflection on the time I had spent growing up in a small town, my relationships, my regrets. But as I’ve grown the song has followed me around and this version strikes me as more uplifting, looking at the past not as something you wish you could change, but something you are willing and able to speak about, to let out and engage with. Maybe you can’t let it all go entirely but it certainly doesn’t have to rule your life.”

Black Pines – “Get What’s Coming”

Country: UK

Genre: Indie Rock

From the Artist: “‘Get What’s Coming’ is a chilling soundscape of blues-tinged rock blended into a denser contemporary rock that speaks to anyone with a taste for rhythm. With its bold guitar riffs, soaring vocal powerhouse, and deeply emotive lyricism, the single has a rousing disposition that is rich with authenticity.”

Brake Loose – “Miss Behave”

Country: Ireland

Genre: Alt Rock

From the Artist: “This is a song about the seductive duel that exists between a man and a woman. For a man, it is the woman’s style, her chuckle, her traits, and the way she carries herself that makes him want to misbehave.”

Scoobert Doobert – “High Society”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Pop

From the Artist: “Scoobert Doobert is increasingly becoming an in-demand producer and collaborator. Producing the CHAI recent single “WHOLE” and being on their remix EP. His finger-on-the-pulse pop is in prominent press, in many influential playlists, and on radio stations globally. His newest single “High Society” speaks to the moment, both the plethora of perks of modernity and the performative positivity that pervades.”
