Another week, another list of great tunes and mini-reviews to go with ’em. Here’s your 8 Tracks for the first week of July!
The Manvils – “Sudden News”
We’re kicking off this week’s list with The Manvils, and their latest single “Sudden News”. It’s an indie rock gem from their brand new album Reaction Arrow.
Austin Ward – “Big Technology”
If you’re in a mellow state of mind, this one’s for you. Deep, moody vocals and simple guitar tones by Austin Ward. The sporadic percussive elements add to the depth. Then it picks up and becomes a bit more of a bop, with some strings.
Heavy Hearts – “Room With A View”
We’ve got Niagara locals Heavy Hearts back on FTS, this time with the latest single “Room With A View” from their album of the same name. It’s a journey through experiences with people who didn’t have band’s best interests at heart.
Peter Katz – “I Will Never Leave You”
Peter Katz makes his return to From The Strait, with another great song from his upcoming album, City of Our Lives. This may not be the Peter Katz sound you’re used to, but it’s one you can’t help but dig.
The Delta Sound – “Blues No.2”
The Delta Sound’s latest track pairs indie rock with some bluesy elements – great melodies and riffs in this one. We’re looking forward to hearing more from this new band.
The Caracals – R U N
This is a great rock tune – and as an added bonus, proceeds of the song will go to good causes. From the band: “R U N is an indie rock song that is a call to action to take part in the social movements happening around us, and the importance of taking a stance. Proceeds will be donated to several organisations.”
Mother Sun – “Sea Salt”
BC band Mother Sun just released this jazzy psychedelic single from their upcoming album, “SIPS”. It’s groovy track, worth a listen.
Joanie Loves Chachi – “Issa Knife”
A Canadian band with a name I like, “Joanie Loves Chachi” recently released this track – great hooks, upbeat energy, overall just damn likable. Give it a listen!
