It’s the last day of July, and that’s a pretty depressing thought. So hopefully these eight new tunes will help keep you in a summer mood for a little while, while we pretend that cold weather isn’t coming up fast. It’s called denial, and it’s classy!

Dream Demon – “The Bargain”

I really enjoy the chilled back tone to this one – it’s a rock track, but with mellow vibes that really work. According to the band, “”The Bargain’ is simple: I’ll stay alive for you, if you stay alive for me. It’s the theme of Dream Demon. Five guys trying to hang on.”

Said The Whale – “99 To The Moon”

We always love when Said the Whale puts out new music, and this single is no exception. “99 To The Moon” is “an intimate song about two people growing together over a long period of time.” Give it a listen, then go read our recent Q&A with the band!

Royal Castles – “Money Song”

A fun indie pop rock song with a fun video to boot.  “Money Song” is about “living in the moment, being happy with where you are and not wanting to leave.” This is first single from sophomore album Just The Hits, produced by Zane Whitfield (The Glorious Sons, The Bluestones), and it’s one we think you’ll dig.

American Authors – “Nice & Easy” (ft. Guy Fieri)

What can you say about a song that features Mark McGrath and Guy Fieri? Together at last! This summer, American Authors released their song “Nice & Easy”, featuring the Sugar Ray frontman – but after a chance meeting with the Triple D dude himself, a remix had to happen, with him lending some vocal magic to the tune. Listen to it. Collect your thoughts. Get back to us.

The Ruddy Ruckus – “You And Me”

Really diggin’ the latest track from The Ruddy Ruckus, which is not at all surprising, considering it’s produced by Luke Bentham (The Dirty Nil), engineered by Vince Soliveri (The Redhill Valleys), mixed by Dave Schiffman (PUP, Vampire Weekend, The OBGMs) and mastered by Harry Hess (Big Wreck, Monster Truck). That’s some all-star assistance for a band that is already fantastic without the solid lineup of help. The result? Another damn good tune.

The Wilderness of Manitoba – “The Alchemist”

A fantastic new single from indie folk artists, The Wilderness of Manitoba. I hate to use the word epic, because it lost all meaning in past years, but in this case… it fits. It’s beautiful. The song “looks for gold in the silver lining the same way we try to hold on to our fleeting memories.”

The Minimum Wage – “Bad Decisions”

If you’re looking to get a song stuck in your head for awhile, look no further! This is a catchy alt-rock tune with serious energy. Turn it on, turn it up, and stay tuned for the horn section near the end. Then go read my last Q&A with these guys and learn more about ’em.

Nelson Sobral – “In The Middle of the Night”

We’re closing off this week’s list with a familiar name on these pages – our pal Nelson Sobral just dropped another beauty tune, and it’s definitely one that needs to get in your ears and onto your playlists. Turn it up!
