If you’ve ever been through heartbreak (and who hasn’t?), Tristan Turdean’s new release is for you. 5 Songs To Get Over You is a concept EP that takes listeners through the full emotional journey of heartbreak through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Each of the five songs represents one of the stages, revealing the raw, honest feelings that come with losing someone you loved. The multi-talented producer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter has also released a short film to go along with the EP.
“From lying to yourself, to breaking down, to finding peace and someone new, the story unfolds track by track and is brought to life through five connected music videos that form a short film,” says Tristan. “This project is about feeling everything, surviving it, and moving forward stronger.“
“Remind Me When You Return” starts the EP off with a moody, intimate feel. The nearly whispered vocals add depth, while the hook-filled chorus and soaring builds make this an intense alt rock track. It’s a hell of a way to kick off this collection of songs, immediately grabbing listeners. The next stage of grief – anger – is well-represented by “E-girl,” a rage-fueled song that manages to be infectious while giving a defiant middle finger to heartbreak. This is a song that everyone can relate to.
Showcasing that his talents lie across many genres and styles, Tristan’s next offering goes in yet another direction. Synth-filled and somewhat poppy, “Tell Me That You Love Me Too” makes the idea of bargaining seem almost appealing, while the pop-punk vibe of “Miss U” is edgy and bright.
The EP closes with the last stage of grief, the hard-won acceptance. “Leave You In The Past” is anthemic and accessible, the kind of song you’ll want to sing along to as you finally learn to move on. Tristan Turdean has put together the perfect collection of songs that run through the stages, feelings, and difficult moments of heartbreak – all while giving us songs that are infectious, edgy, and undeniable. Whether your heart is broken or you just need a fantastic outlet to feel your feelings, 5 Songs To Get Over You should be on your radar.
