Holy Popes – “DBT”

Country: UK

Genre: Garage Rock

Words From The Artist: “Our entire system is based around debt. From using sea shells as markers of goods that are owed, to the paper money we hold in our hands being merely trust in an idea of wealth rather than having actual value. These ideas always affect the poorest in society and we see it so often with money lending, overdrafts and borrowing.”

The Super Soakers – “Heritocracy”

Country: Netherlands

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “Do what you love and work for free. As apparent members of the Creative Class, the song is about the crooked inability to observe the class that is behind the creative. Romanticising the balancing act while employing your social safety net as a hammock. You would say that from this position it would be easy to look around instead of only focussing on a goal. The humbling question that remains is, why do you think that you deserve?”

Foxtide – “Already Gone”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From The Artist: “With their latest single “Already Gone”, Foxtide touches on themes such as isolation, boredom and living in a relentless routine while following the story and internal dialogue of a man who is led to follow societal norms. Incorporating the band member’s experiences of mindlessly working dead end jobs and feeling as though they are wasting their time, “Already Gone” is an autobiographical account of the hardships of getting by. Combining 80’s new wave inspired sonics with early 2000’s NYC indie rock landscapes, “Already Gone” harnesses a melancholic yet enthralling musical journey. “

Different Jane “Let’s Get A Drink”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From The Artist: “Different Jane, newly formed in 2021, is a no frills American rock n roll band from Norman, Oklahoma. The band centers around Ian Roberts, writer, vocalist, and guitarist who is best known as the guitarist of ”Regg” performing with artists such as G-Eazy and Chief Keef. Former band members include Rodney Hulsey, now known as “PawPaw Rod”. With inspirations rooted in 60’s garage rock, UK indie, and punk, the band’s music is a mix of energetic guitar and sincere “say it like it is” lyrics.”

Alpha Pet – “TV Personality”

Country: Sweden

Genre: Punk

Words From The Artist: “TV Personality, the third single from the fast emerging Swedish post-punk band, is a melancholic punk rock song in wide screen technicolor format that will make you beat your chest and belt out the chorus from the first listen. The dark melancholic feeling is established in the first few seconds of the song with the synthesizer emulating the sound of a dark and empty street. The hooky lead guitar flirts with the sounds of distant sirens cutting through the night. In the middle of all of this is the rambling man caught in a snowy white dream. He’s all alone, looking for some company in whatever way possible.”

A Place To Bury Strangers – “Nice Of You To Be There For Me”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From The Artist: “This song is about how greed infects all of us and makes us do things we might not normally do. Being greedy is actually quite shortsighted and voluntarily naive. When I was writing this song, I felt the need to express the feeling of being taken advantage of by someone I regarded as a friend. The guitar solo is a fantasy dream out of that world that returns to grim reality of disappointment in another persona.”

Bayline – “Marooned”

Country: Netherlands

Genre: Hard Rock

Words From The Artist: “The song references the hopeless vacuum of homeless youngsters turning 18 and falling out of eligibility for governmental and social support. No money, no job, no hope, no future. Don’t miss the drop at 1.40!”

Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something – “Easy Peeler”

Country: UK

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “”Easy Peelers are a type of fruit specially bred for the skin to be easy to remove. I like the symmetry of the name with the thin skinned critics of so called snow flake culture. The vitriolic delivery a testament to the unimaginable futility you can feel as just one small person in an ocean of vacuous impossibility. The lyrics were written by walking around and singing out loud to the instrumental track during lockdown. I’d moved from South east London, my home for over a decade, to the west London suburbs to be near to my girlfriend at the time. Being visibly queer and autistic in an incredibly homogeneous upper middle class environment felt totally unnatural. There is a limit to how many tuts and suspicious looks up and down one person can tolerate before either shutting down or lashing back. I’m not a violent person, my power lies within my words so belting out a volley of anarchic affirmations felt empowering. I liked the idea of being antagonistic, the antithesis of the boomer core values I felt I might drown in.”

Asylums – “Instant Coffee”

Country: UK

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “ASYLUMS’ SPIRITED “INSTANT COFFEE” IS A HIGHLY CAFFEINATED, DEEPLY CATHARTIC ANTHEM FOR THE BROKEN & BITTER”

poel – “WAVES”

Country: US

Genre: Punk

Words From The Artist: “This song has all the hallmarks of a righteous punk song. The guitar riffs/the gang vocals/ the fast af punk drums…it’s all in there. I played and sang everything, save for the drums (which was done by my long time buddy and punk/metal drumming legend AJ BARRETTE) I spend a lot of time in the ocean surfing/swimming and a lot of the lyrical content personifies the ocean’s change in movements to a shift in consciousness amongst the people”

Keegan Macdonald – “The Show”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “”The Show” was the second single for my debut album that came out today! Dan Konopka, the drummer from OK Go, played the drums for the album, and Nic Weaver was hired for the brass parts on this song. I recorded all the other parts myself at home, and the tracks were mixed and mastered at Evergroove Studio in Colorado.”

Violet Harlot – “Demon Girl”

Country: Australia

Genre: Rock

Words From The Artist: “Demon Girl is the debut single by South Aussie rockers Violet Harlot. It’s a sultry hard rock song that begins suave, swung and sexy, but then explodes into an energetic rock guitar solo. The song was heavily inspired by classic rock hits describing mysterious women, a la Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog’ and Deep Purple’s ‘Strange Kind Of Woman’. The song is notorious in the Adelaide music scene for its catchy chorus ‘Dark green eyes, oh my soul / I fell in love with a demon girl’, passionately sung by the band’s humble, but energetic fanbase.”

kicklighter – “Pavement”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “This is our second single from our collaborative project with our producer, Aaron Gillespie of Underoath. It’s a song we wrote about accepting rejection when you have feelings for someone but they don’t reciprocate. The idea is expressed in a lighthearted tone but with dreary lyricism.”

Roxana Line – “Marry Me”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “In this My Chemical Romance meets Panic! At The Disco release, one-woman-band Roxana Line has revealed the third chapter of her upcoming concept album, ‘60% WonderWorlds, 40% Tragedies’ titled “Marry Me.” Her latest track delivers you on the doorstep of a 19th century wedding, where our protagonist, a sorrowful bride, longs for escape from an arranged matrimony. As fate would have it, a wayward circus trope creeps into town to offer her a place on their “never-ending tour.”

Young Lions – “Kaleidoscope”

Country: Australia

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From The Artist: “Recorded and Mixed by Brock Weston from Brisbane band, Bugs, ‘Kaleidoscope’ explores the complex issue of mental health, taking the angle of the struggle one faces, but with the realisation that, whilst help is available, only one person can begin to initiate a change… that is you. “It’s your choice to be here, I can’t be the hero, it’s your call what you give away” – the track’s lyrical content is as honest and as raw as it gets. “Kaleidoscope” is close to my heart after a family member came close to taking their own life,” says Zach. “Just to witness their struggle, and the feeling of complete helplessness I had really started to question things, like for example ‘our Mothers love, was it all for nothing?’”
