New City Temples – “Silence!”
Country: Greece
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “Musically, its an alternative rock track with some post rock elements added in to it. Production-wise is as modern as it gets, lots of dynamic range though, through its songwriting and some ambient parts that add to it being more unique Talks about struggles with mental illness and how a loss of a loved one can make our minds spiral even more into depression.”
Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser – “Hall of Mirrors”
Country: US
Genre: Hardcore Punk
Word From the Artist: “The song itself is about taking a step to confront our madness by taking a hard look in the mirror and realizing we aren’t who we think we are. Sometimes we have to break through the cracks in the reflection to become the person we want to be. I’m sure we’ve all had a boss or a job that absolutely wrecked us inside and forced us to look at where we are at in life. The song not only features my 16 year old student Deo Budnevitch aka my personal Randy Rhoads on second guitar but also Eric Hernandez on drums and Juan Montoya on 3rd guitar. Eric is currently in Torche and has his own band Wrong, and Juan who does most of my artwork is Torche’s original axe-man but it’s worth noting his own project Moon Destroys absolutely riiips.”
Joe McCarthy and the Faders – “Can’t Trust Myself”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Word From the Artist: “When the harsh reality of life hits, can you trust your emotions, your friends, your family, all of those who sowed naive or dishonest perceptions of the world around them? This song wrestles with forgiveness and redemption in light of the mental anguish that is life in 2022.”
Pure – “Leap of Faith”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “Pure is back again with a hard-hitting Rock banger. With melodic elements, a chorus sure to get stuck in your head, & hard-hitting riffs, “Leap of Faith” is a song everyone can enjoy. For fans of Bring Me the Horizon, Asking Alexandria, & Bad Wolves.”
The Baker’s Basement – “Skeleton Party”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “You’re invited to the Skeleton Party. In fact – everybody’s invited! A raucous and gritty rock tune concocted in the spirit of the season, Skeleton Party is about the blowout bash that starts at the end. All you have to do is bring a few beers and strip off your skin. It’s really only a matter of time. Everybody’s dying to attend.”
Multi-Ultra – “Yes or No”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Word From the Artist: “Multi Ultra is adding a new color to their palette with the latest single, “Yes or No”. In their most audacious release yet, Multi Ultra claims their stake as artists. Featuring jagged guitars and a pumping drum beat, “Yes or No” is a rock song that crosses over into pop with ease, as this is their first release to feature a synthesizer solo. Derrick Wesley, lead singer of Multi Ultra, says, “We’ve been playing in clubs and discovering how much people react to rock bands, but they also want to dance. I wanted to write a rock song that we could dance to without being ingenuine. Nolan even played a killer synth solo on it! There’s a bit of nostalgia in “Yes or No” for me because it was inspired by the indie bands that played the soundtrack to our youth. The lyrics are kind of a letter written to myself, “Yes or no? Are you gonna go for this with all your might or be careless?””
Christine Savard – “Wicked Woman”
Country: Canada
Genre: Indie Rock
Word From the Artist: “Moody, dark indie vibe, driven by organic riveting bass and punchy acoustic drums, the song tells a cautionary tale about a Wicked Woman who traps a man under her enchanted spell. The track features a superb blend of melded instrumental layers, featuring electric bass and guitar, fender rhodes, Juno-60/Dx7 keyboard layers, saxophone, violin and flute – coasting beneath chilling, forward vocals that drive the song home.”
Modern Stars – “Monkey Blues”
Country: Italy
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “The syncopated and acidic Monkey Blues portrays a moment in which the protagonist of their journey no longer understands whether what surrounds him is reality or the fruit of his mind. The video is inspired by the film “12 Monkeys” (Terry Gilliam, 1995), loosely based on the film La jetée, by Chris Marker, a 1962 French experimental short film. The film deals with the subjective nature of memories and their effect on the perception of reality. In the feature film the protagonists are found several times having altered or false memories. In a line David Morse states: «I think, Dr. Railly, you have given your “alarmists” a bad name. Surely there is very real and very convincing data that the planet cannot survive the excesses of the human race: proliferation of atomic devices, uncontrolled breeding habits, the rape of the environment, the pollution of land, sea, and air. In this context, isn’t it obvious that “Chicken Little” represents the sane vision and that Homo Sapiens’ motto, “Let’s go shopping!” is the cry of the true lunatic?”
Mike Hewlett and the Racket – “Memphis Was A Revolutionary”
Country: US
Genre: Grunge
Word From the Artist: “This song was recorded this summer at Easley McCain Studios (The White Stripes, Pavement, Wilco) in Memphis, TN. Engineered by Matt Qualls (Nights Like These, Heavy Eyes). Written and performed by Mike Hewlett & The Racket. This is the first single from an upcoming EP to be released in early 2023.”
The Mightabins – “Authenticity”
Country: Canada
Genre: Punk
Word From the Artist: “This song is sort of about how inauthentic new stuff sucks, but the authentic stuff that people claim to prefer also usually sucks, in its own old, smelly, crappy (but still better) way.”
Benja – “Lonely”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Word From the Artist: “‘Lonely’s a rock song that I sang, produced, mixed and mastered myself. It’s got a banger chorus and bridge, with soaring synths, vocals and guitars that are bound to catch your attention.”
Gwythaints – “Rising of the Sun”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “”Rising of the Sun” is a retro power pop alt rock jam that’s a little bit late-80s (The Cure/INXS) and a little bit mid-90s (Green Day/Eels/U2). This music video finds the band decked out in UV tape and body paint cavorting under black lights with Jim Henson-inspired puppets and glowing paper butterflies designed by Portland-based puppeteer Samala Coffey. The song’s lyrics–about finding a lover who can match your level of crazy–are delivered by front-man Adam Sweeney with a wink and a smirk and more than a little swagger.”
The Mars McClanes – “Maybe Tonight”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “We intended to write a song about going out after everything opened back up after the pandemic, but instead, a handful of chords turned into a full-on, three-act story about someone in the middle of a raging midlife crisis.”
University Drive – “Residual Self Image”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
Word From the Artist: “A melancholic up tempo track about losing yourself to grief.”
The Episodes – “Candlewood”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
Word From the Artist: “One of our favorite songs to play live! It’s got harmonies throughout most of the song. Very straightforward rock/pop. And that’s how we like it (on occasion)! It’s about love and loss. Mostly the former.”
