Verner Calvin – “No Update”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Main songwriter Calvin Jordan wrote the song during the two year period he was separated from his wife while waiting for her immigration visa to be processed. Calvin left Taiwan, where he met his wife Anna, to work as a caregiver for two developmentally disabled adults in the US. Every week Calvin and Anna would check the status of her visa on the US government’s immigration website. Oftentimes weeks would pass without any forward progress (“Always waiting for Mondays, to look and see, that there’s been no updates, you’ve made a fool of me…”). In the meantime Calvin was learning to cope with the behavioral issues that his clients presented him with: banging on his door at all hours, pouring weedkiller all over the lawn and his garden, and passing out naked around the house. No Update is a snapshot of the struggles we can endure before things change for the better. The song features real samples of stomping and knocking sounds from his client’s during this period. At the time of release Calvin’s wife Anna will have been living in the US for almost four months.”

Bar II – “Wake Up”

Country: Belgium

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “In our present urban times, over-saturated by electro and hip-hop, dominated by show-offs and pretenders, Bar II keeps their mysteries to themselves. They won’t abide by the dictatorship of imagery only to focus on pure, raw, dark deranged rock music. May they raise the bar, too. “

Slow Fiction – “In the distance, where it doesn’t matter”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “There’s an old saying ‘there are three sides to every story: your side, their side, and the truth.’ The goal was to have this song embody a three-edged sword. Sometimes, the lines of reality and perception become distorted. The title is a line from a poem ‘Imagining Defeat’ by David Berman, who is a great inspiration.”

Scoobert Doobert – “Feels So Good”

Country: US

Genre: Indie Pop

Words From the Artist: “Back with another ode to feeling good, Scoobert Doobert brings in the new year with a refreshing chill style that’s consistently attracted fans to his inviting vibe. He’s recently garnered sync placements with Coors Light, producer credits with the J-pop band CHAI, and official Spotify editorials playlists. He has upcoming collaborations with emerging and established artists for this year. “Feels So Good” delivers the good news that there’s positivity to tap into, and pleasantness to experience.”

Central Fresh – “Walkens The Line”

Country: Canada

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “This is a song about balancing love and health in an tumultuous and uncertain world.”

The Overrides – “Ideology”

Country: US

Genre: Punk

Words From the Artist: “The Overrides are an independent band from Long Beach, CA featuring members of ‘Piss N’ Blood’ and ‘Dime Runner’. After taking a brief break in 2015, Singer/Guitarist Cam Mosavian began writing new songs and re-working unreleased tracks he’d been creating for years, laying the groundwork for a new band best described as The Clash & The Ramones meet Fugazi and 90’s Alternative.”

Stephan LaCasse – “Danger’s Arms”

Country: Canada

Genre: Singer-Songwriter

Words From the Artist: “”Danger’s Arms” is the first track off of Stephan LaCasse’s debut album “Whiskey Creek Surf Shop Blues”. The video was animated by LaCasse himself. The song is about diving into the risks associated with love and life. The psychedelic imagery and retro video game concept was inspired by his surroundings on Canada’s west coast and his childhood Sega.”

Swiss Banks – “Make It Work”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “The idea of ‘Make It Work’ started out as this ridiculous riff that I came up with one day at work standing outside in 105 degree heat,” guitarist Lane Fielder says. “It got even more ridiculous when I brought it to the band and we laid it down.” “The lyrics were written in almost one straight stream of consciousness shot,” singer/songwriter Adam Buhrman continues. “I think of someone who has been victimized and experienced significant trauma, especially in a way that damages the ability to form intimate relationships that require trust and vulnerability with another.”
