2020 has already been a busy year for great tunes – so let’s dispense with the needless intro, and get to the latest collection of songs, shall we?

Sicayda – “Caught In The Rain”

Toronto’s Sicayda is an alt rock band with some shoegaze and noise-pop influences in their recent single, “Caught In The Rain”. This is their last single before they switch focus to their upcoming EP.

Christina Lyon – “I’ll Be There”

The latest single from LA-based artist Christina Lyon is a 70s-inspired retro pop tune, featuring a vintage Wurlitzer digital piano and her own ethereal vocals. Check it out!

quietype – “Island”

Another Toronto band for the list, we’ve got the latest track from quietype. “Island” fuses slow R&B melodies with electronic accents and rock sensibilities. It’s a sexy tune, well worth a listen.

Scenic Route To Alaska – “Daydreaming”

We’re always happy to share songs from Scenic Route to Alaska – and it should be mentioned that if you get to see them live, you absolutely should. This new single and video offer the expected pop-rock melodies – it’s catchy and instantly likeable.

Birds of Ontario – “Legion”

A local band we’re always happy to hear new songs from, Birds of Ontario recently released their new track, “Legion”. If you’re looking for more Birds of Ontario, go check out our “Live From The Strait” performance with them from this past summer!

Jesse Merineau – “Honey”

Hailing from Ontario’s own Sault- St.e Marie, Jesse Merineau offers up this electro-dancy-pop-rock track with a funky side to it that is hard not to dig. Big things are happening for this artist, be sure to keep an eye out for more!

Villages – “Cremation (Ashes to Ashes)”

This song by Cape Breton’s Villages reimagines Lou Reed’s “Cremation (Ashes to Ashes)” as a traditional folk song, pairing themes of mortality and loss with uplifting melodies and sounds.

Not Happy – “Uptight”

Nostalgic music feels with a modern twist, “Uptight” is the latest song from Not Happy. Give it a spin and let us know what you think of the alt rock hooks and grunge influences.
