Deadly Vices – “Notice Me”
Country: US
Genre: Grunge
Words From the Artist: What would a young Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, or Guns N’ Roses sound like in the 2020s? That’s the question members of Deadly Vices asked themselves when starting this project. Born out of a Seattle grunge tribute band, they turned to writing original material after the COVID-19 pandemic halted their live shows. While harkening back to the nostalgic musical stylings of 80’s hard rock and 90’s grunge, they also wanted their sound to translate to modern hard rock radio. That’s when they turned to venerable producer Kane Churko (Papa Roach, Disturbed, Bad Wolves). With Kane’s guidance and virtuosic production chops, the songs that came about were far beyond what any of them could have imagined.

The production is stellar with popping bass lines, strings and synths, and the light charm of chimes, while Zach’s vocal abilities range from soft and reserved to upfront and bombastic throughout the song. One listen of the chorus will have you hooked, as the melody of the song carries the charm and upbeat nature throughout

Mickey Sunshine – “Rock God”
Country: US
Genre: Rock
Words From the Artist: Rock God is a tongue-in-cheek commentary about the sexism that is rampant in the music industry. In this song, vocalist Andrea Gonzales-Paul assumes the character of Rock God. Male Rock God behavior, as depicted in the lyrics of the song, has been encouraged, promoted, justified, and modeled at almost every turn. We love when our male Rock Gods act bad. When women in the music industry demonstrate Rock God actions, they’re vilified, called sluts and whores and labeled distasteful and not to be looked up to. What was your initial reaction to Rock God? Listen to Rock God again and think about what this reaction was rooted in.

A rock and roll mood, with distorted guitars, claps, solid running drums and female vocals inspired by The Saints’ front-man Chris Bailey. A song about a love affair turned sour in which the author regrets the union and feels overwhelmed, attempting to escape the clutches of her paranoid-obsessive and verbally-abusive lover.
