CHASE. – “Humbled”
Country: Canada
Genre: Indie Rock
From the Artist: “Humbled is my second single off my new EP, “Compulsive”, July 8th, 2022 is the official release date. This song is about re-inventing yourself and staying strong in the face of adversity.”
Nights Like Thieves – “Distraction”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “Bleeding both passion and energy, this track showcases a formidable and cohesive blend, a mixture of melody and intensity, which are absorbed in every aspect of the song’s essence, starting from the nature of its composition’s development and finishing with the instrumental proficiency, utilized throughout the process of materializing the unique song-writing vision of Nights Like Thieves’ members. With a continuously unfolding, unpredictable edge, “Distraction” is capable of clearly exhibiting its sincere essence through its infectious nature by concentrating on providing a dynamic experience, mainly supported by the track’s genuine melodic approach and climactic sing-along chorus explosions, which are clearly characteristics that the Nights Like Thieves profile can be generally associated with as well.”
Caregiver – “Reason”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Pop
From the Artist: “I sabotaged a relationship to avoid being hurt,” Bitson explains. “Such an ironic characteristic, self-sabotage. It creates the exact thing I fear. When we reconnected, it was as if he could see right through me. There was nothing left for us. If I hadn’t been so distant and destructive, maybe things could have worked out differently. We swung outside on hammocks on opposing sides of his porch and it felt like goodbye. That week I wrote Reason.”
Cheap Spirits – “Come On”
Country: UK
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “Come On is a high energy alternative rock song with fast tempo drums, unrelenting guitars and a groovy bassline. The song was written during the covid-19 lockdown and is about partying in student houses despite rough times. Cheap Spirits are new arrivals to the Belfast music scene and have more music on the way.”
emily + shawn – “What You Got”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
From the Artist: “This song originated from a funny exchange in which Emily jokingly told Shawn that she would mess him up if he ever cheated on her. The timing worked out nicely, as we needed a fourth song for our upcoming recording session in upstate NY. Funny enough, this late-minute creative effort became one of our favorite songs we’ve ever written.”
Paul Cook & The Chronicles – “Parade”
Country: UK
Genre: Singer-Songwriter
From the Artist: “”Parade” is a glass half full kind of song, where let-downs become success stories thanks to the place that they’ve helped to bring you to. This is the 4th release of 2022 from Paul Cook and a sister track to recent single “Chin Up”.”
The Margaret Hooligans – “Red Rider”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “To start, Red Rider lets loose with a long wail of fuzz and syncopated drumming, before Meg starts in with the verse, “They…said you weren’t to be trusted…” what follows is a reinterpretation of the Red Riding Hood fairytale, but the lyrics reveal how it could also be an allegory for the last few years we’ve been living through. The drumming is repetitive but complicated, while the electric ukulele is sparse, ringing out while Meg retells the tale. The middle of the song is full of fantasia, with a swirl of ethereal arias, crashing symbols, clanging cowbells, pounding djembe, and electric ukulele noise.”
America Part Two – “You Are All (…Splatter)”
Country: US
Genre: Rock
From the Artist: “Jaw dropping lead single off of their self-released EP ‘AP2-niverse’, out everywhere now. America Part Two is a feeling; it is loose, intense rock music for those dancing on the razor’s edge.”
AUS!Funkt – “Turn To Rust”
Country: Canada
Genre: Post-Punk
From the Artist: “The music video for “Turn To Rust features our friend Prince Amponsah, an incredible actor who lost both hands and was severely burnt in a devastating house fire. His personal story perfectly aligns with the atmosphere of the video and the message of the song – moving away from something that once was and embracing what is and what is to come, no matter how hard that is.”
Hyena Drewald – “Gut Shots”
Country: UK
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “This is my album opener, it features a minute long intro which leads into a frenetic punk/pop song about a heroine who sneaks aboard a ghost ship, she plays in the onboard cabaret and seduces the ghostly captain. All very up tempo and good fun.”
Lost In Japan – “Before The Blink”
Country: Canada
Genre: Indie Rock
From the Artist: “Before the Blink is a song about self directed talk that shares themes of dormancy. The single was produced by Grammy award winner Matt Snell at Noble Street Studios in Toronto.”
GRITS. – “I Won”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “Sometimes relationships fizzle quietly, other times they erupt in one of those fights there’s no coming back from, so you call an impromptu rehearsal at 8am on a rainy Sunday morning to write “I Won”. Which sounds like a song about winning an argument, but is really about the things we’ve all had to tell ourselves in order to say goodbye to Love Gone Wrong (title of our upcoming album).”
Baze Blackwood – “Mashpee”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
From the Artist: “Baze Blackwood is the solo project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Miles Blackwood Robinson. Pulling from a number of diverse influences, Robinson’s freak-pop sensibilities and bathroom-pop approach to production have underlied every Baze project since the home recording ‘2’ was re-released in 2018. Shortly thereafter, ‘if it is’ was produced with long-time collaborator Scoops Dardaris, an alt-Americana expression of everything from wonder and heartache—to politics and paranoia. Working alongside psych outfit Arc Iris and Scoops, the newest Baze EP, retroject (out Sep 18 2020) swirls with pulsing soundscapes and rich orchestration and explores notions of identity and time.”
The Silent Comedy – “Vigilante”
Country: US
Genre: Indie Rock
From the Artist: ““Vigilante, in our minds, is really a protest anthem. Anger over injustice, kleptocracy, increasing polarization and inequality has been building in us for years and we tried to channel all of that into this track. It is hard not to feel useless in the face of global corruption and exploitation, so we decided to write a barn burning rocker that would allow us to exorcise some of those feelings on stage.”
The Dionysus Effect – “Don’t Ya Tell Me”
Country: US
Genre: Alt Rock
From the Artist: “We wrote and recorded an alt-rock and r&b song about losing control with someone and letting that feeling take over. It has soft and loud dynamics to reflect the power struggles in relationships. The solo is a lot of fun too.”
