Higher Education – “Am I Going Mad?”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Am I Going Mad?” blends rock, reggae, and psychedelia with a theatrical delivery and introspective lyrics. Its dark undertones and powerful melody carve a pathway to the eerie side of the human psyche.

Mr. Eyeballs – “All Wrong”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “The song is about being in turmoil, feeling like you’ve made the wrong choice and kicking yourself about it, while still having hope that you can turn a corner and change for the better.”

Geanies – “Bury Me”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Bury Me,” the first single off of the EP, has the angst one would expect of a SoCal-bred, 19-year old Gen Z innovator measuring the uncertainty of the world around him as he prepares to become a part of it.

Køster – “Numbrain”

Country: Canada

Genre: Garage Rock

Words From the Artist: With a catalog of hard-hitting songs that unflinchingly address everything from mental-health struggles to the day-to-day battles of life, the Toronto-based alt-rock veteran is living testament to the guts and determination needed to play — and win — in the modern music industry, while inspiring others to follow in his bootsteps and chase their dreams. “My music is about my experiences,” he says frankly. “The highs, the lows and everything in between. it’s about the tribulations in life that we all go through. I take the struggle and I turn it into art. I wanna connect and help people get through the hardships and believe in themselves.”

Propter Hawk – “Clean Old-Fashioned Hate”

Country: Canada

Genre: Indie Rock

Words From the Artist:  An animated dance number inspired by the early days of American rock and roll and Motown, Clean Old-Fashioned Hate breaks tradition in the most Propter Hawk way with their cynical, anti-establishment lyrical narrative. The song cheekily points a finger in the seat of power’s general direction while imploring the have-nots to cavort with whatever energy they have left. “We had an idea for a song with kind of a 60’s dance hall vibe that we had been working on, but we wanted to do something a bit more relevant with it” recalls singer Malorie Blake. “Mal read somewhere about a college football rivalry between University of Georgia and Georgia Tech that they call ‘Clean Old-Fashioned Hate’,” guitarist Andrew Blake adds. “I loved the sound of it and it seemed like a great way to describe that despondent feeling that’s growing in our society as the gap between classes widens.”

Rum Ragged – “Lazy Afternoon”

Country: Canada

Genre: Folk

Words From the Artist: “Lazy Afternoon” is the Newfoundland trad band’s take on a song first released by English artists Lea Nicholson and Stan Ellison in 1972 on the album God Bless The Unemployed. Mark Manning of Rum Ragged unearthed the song during the recording sessions for the band’s new album (coming this fall). The group was so moved by the track that they decided to put their own spin on it.

Helen Kelter Skelter – “Sceptre”

Country: US

Genre: Garage Rock

Words From the Artist: “Sceptre is a song about power hungry people who are only looking out for themselves. It’s about sleaze balls, money worshipers, big oil men, politicians, and religious leaders that take advantage of people for their own personal gain.”

Sekond Skyn – “My Head”

Country: US

Genre: Grunge

Words From the Artist: Sekond Skyn creates a dynamic full sound and solidifies a behemoth stronghold that resonates. “My Head” undeniably relays their works and their forthcoming album release later this year. Sekond Skyn is a high-functioning beast that produces its well-known New Jersey sound. Get ready for a force to be reckoned with. “It’s like giving someone all you’ve got and they abandon you emotionally. They mentally intrude on you and get in your head. Changing you into someone else. The only place you’re free is in your dreams. They’re in your head and you can’t go on this way. They take you and break you down and build you back up in their own way.”

The Board – “Quoth The Craven”

Country: Germany

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: Quoth the Craven is the bruising new single from The Board’s upcoming Adaptation EP, recorded earlier this year in Berlin. It recalls the urgent energy of late 80s proto-alternative, with anger to fit our times.

Tower Defense – “Running Out”

Country: US

Genre: Alt Rock

Words From the Artist: “Running Out” – Inspired by a litany of post-pandemic anxieties; an existential whiplash of going from having nothing but time and nothing to do, to suddenly having everything to do and no time to do it.
