Limerick City, Ireland–based indie rock four-piece neptune blood has just released their new EP, A Quiet Riot Inside. The four-track collection features previously released singles alongside a brand new song, taking listeners on a compelling journey through different genres and styles.
“We are delighted to finally get these songs released out into the world,” the band says. “They were written and recorded over a long period of time, and it’s great to finally let them out of their cage and take on a whole life of their own. and we can’t wait to start releasing more music in 2026.”
The EP kicks off with “Midnight Showing,” an infectious indie rock track with bright, addictive guitar riffs and washed-out vocals. There’s a playfulness to this one, with an inviting feel. Shifting sonic gears, “Best Laid Plans” leans into a somewhat industrial-tinged style, where atmospheric, layered textures serve as a backdrop to a low, moody vocal melody and an earworm chorus. “In Calico” brings yet another mood, offering boppy hooks and a nostalgic touch that recalls top-40 hits from the late ’80s and early ’90s. Definitely something that would fit on the radio. The EP concludes with the bold, genre-fluid style of “Huge If True,” the perfect way to cap off this release.
Overall, A Quiet Riot Inside is a testament to the idea that bands and artists don’t have to fit into one box, one genre, or one style. neptune blood tackles a variety of sounds and influences, yet manages to piece this collection together seamlessly, in a way that feels purposeful and right. The songs run the gamut: textural and atmospheric, heavy and deep, infectious and melodic. The band has carved out their own unique mark on an industry that favours trend-following.
