About The Blues Emergency

The Blues Emergency is a renegade band of misfits channeling original music that is stylistically and sonically fitting for the ears of your mama and her misbehaving posse.

The Toronto band’s sound is hard, cranked up, blues-rock infused with the elements of stoner-rock and psychedelia. With socially conscious lyrics, hard hitting guitar riffs, and raspy vocals – the band packs a punch.

The band started as a bluesy jam trio making some noise at the rehearsal studios near Cherry Beach in Toronto with the original members John Brand, Emir Halilovic & former drummer, Milan Pejcic. Initially, the band had no singer but that didn’t stop them from playing music, exploring new sounds, improvising, and honing their craft.

Wanting to elevate their game, the trio decided to put an ad out to recruit a singer and found vocalist Andy du Rego. The energy, vibe and connection during the first jam felt organic, genuine, and real. The Blues Emergency was born.

The Blues Emergency released their debut album, The Machine, in 2017. The album showcases eight original songs and one Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers cover tune, “Good Enough”. It contains tunes of epic proportions, with impressive guitar work, a tight rhythm section, powerful vocals and sharp political message. It was recorded the old-school way, live off- the-floor and without the use of a click track.

After recording The Machine, each band member pursued different musical endeavors – Andy continued his solo project, Black Suit Devil, while John, Emir and Milan performed as instrumental power trio under JEM Konnection and as bandmates of another outfit, Royalty & De Kingsmen.

Though their debut album The Machine was not supported by any marketing or extensive promo, it gained incredible traction on YouTube. The album made a mark overseas in Europe and garnered a cult following and some 50,000+ streams across various YouTube channels. The support from the fans and their demand for the music re-energized the band. With the introduction of a new drummer, The Blues Emergency is now working on another album and is rehearsing for upcoming festival appearances.

The Blue Emergency is:

ABOUT THE SONG: “A Love Revolution”released on June 2, 2023

A Love Revolution is a high-energy, fist-pumping sing-along rock juggernaut by Toronto’s electrifying hard rockers The Blues Emergency. A song that makes you want to put the top down, crank it to 11, and hit repeat. With its heavy drive and unique vocals in the spirit of Stone Temple Pilots, Guns N’ Roses, or Rival Sons, “A Love Revolution” also packs a powerful message. It is a statement of love, unity, and peaceful protest. The Blues Emergency delivers their message to the world that change is possible if we fearlessly stand together. Music can be a powerful tool for positive change, and “A Love Revolution” is proof of that.

It all started with a guitar riff that our guitar player Emir had for some time in his back pocket. He presented the riff to myself (Andy, the singer) and we quickly got to work on the song by sending recorded ideas back and forth via email from our home studios . After arranging and recording the song in our home studios produced by Emir & I, we sent the track off to Pete Swann of Attitude Productions for mixing who did an amazing job in bringing the song to life. Then forward it over to Noah Mintz of Lacquer Channel Mastering who in turn put his magic to work.
