About My Son The Hurricane

The multi-horn, multi-drummer, multi-singer, brass funk beast My Son The Hurricane continue to solidify themselves as one of Canada’s premier live music acts. With sold out shows and lineups out of Canadian, American and European venue doors, it’s become clear – there is no show like Hurricane! No dance floor is safe! Big or small festivals & venues, they always bring the biggest show.

Hurricane has been featured on CBC Radio One, Much More Music, Exclaim!, Edge 102.1, Indie 88, and 97.7 HTZ-FM, and has collaborated with U.S.S., Pocket Dwellers, Mista D from the SALADS and three-time Juno/Polaris nominee D-Sisive.

Their last album was produced by Darren Magierowski and Jill Zimmermann (July Talk, Alexisonfire) and spent months on the national Campus & Community radio charts. Their music has been called “masterfully played, arranged and produced” (Canadian Beats). During the 2019 North American tour, Hurricane amazed audiences with a one-of-a-kind stage show that has been featured at such festivals as: Live at Heart Sweden, Evolve, Mariposa, Wapiti, Riverfest, Starbelly Jam BC, Blissfest Michigan, Kispiox Valley Music Fest, Messtival, Beaches Jazz Festival, Summerfolk, Follyfest, Robson Valley Music Festival, Hullabaloo Omaha and many more, establishing Hurricane as “a group of fun, professional artists that really know how to bring the party.” (Jeremie Boudreau, Messtival).

ABOUT THE SONG:
“Mississippi ’88” – out now!

My Son the Hurricane release the funky new single “Mississippi ’88”, inspired by classic spy films, espionage, Get Smart, and the great Carmen Sandiego. The 12-piece brass beast spin some funk around this tale of a young female spy, code-named the Mississippi ’88.

“Musically the intro had been thrown around in practice for years, coupled with some new ideas it seemed the perfect base to tell a story of campy espionage! We understand that we aren’t writing “Bridge over Troubled Water” here, just having fun and we know this one will get the dance floors cooking.” – Danno O’Shea, My Son The Hurricane
