Queens & Kings – “Going Through Hell”
Let’s kick off this week’s list with a great Toronto band we’ve featured on here a few times before, Queens & Kings – “Going Through Hell” is about “letting go of things that aren’t working and trying to forge something new”. It’s another solid garage rock tune, alongside a video that simultaneously makes me miss live shows and want to go on a Canadian road trip ASAP. If this duo isn’t on your radar yet, they sure as hell should be.
Jesse Roper – “Horizons”
Here’s the latest by Jesse Roper, from recent sessions with JUNO nominated producer Gus Van Go. It’s a very cool track – mixing a lot of genres… rock, pop, blues, etc. This one really stood out to me a lot, as it has that unique “it factor” to it; that thing I can’t quite place. Give it a listen, and see what you think.
Wavy Trees – “I Wanna Go Out”
Your weekend needs an injection of energy – here’s the track for you. Wavy Trees just released this great garage-y track with some punk, noise rock, and grunge weaved throughout. Turn it up, and get your ass off that couch!
Delta Days – “R.N.R”
This is the perfect song for summer – it reminds me of seeing stellar live Canadian bands outdoors at intimate venues (maybe I’m just missing that). But this song is solid indie rock with that intangible Canadian alt-rock sound that we’re so lucky to have here.
The Zolas – “Let It Scare You”
We’ve never met a Zolas track we didn’t like, and this one is no exception! Check out the latest from their album Come Back To Life, and then head over to our interview feature with band to learn more about the album.
Quiet Arrows – “Dust and Ashes”
Quiet Arrows have just released this mellow indie folk track, with just enough build in the chorus to really pull you in. It’s from their upcoming EP, Fault Lines. Keep an eye out for that!
Darrian Gerard – “I Don’t Need Anyone”
BC Singer-songwriter Darrian Gerard has just released her very first single, made entirely in her basement. It’s an indie pop track with lovely vocals and a solid amount of catchiness.
Mean Streaks – “Bad Behaviour”
Mean Streak are a Canadian band making great rock tunes with elements of punk, new wave, synthpop and 50s rock. This one’s a fun track, with a great sense of nostalgia to it!
